The premiere performing ensemble of the Barrington Music Institute is the Barrington Youth Symphony Orchestra. This auditioned group features string, wind, and percussion students who are ready for the challenge of playing advanced symphony literature. This orchestra rehearses once a week and performs two formal concerts at Barrington High School each year. They also perform in the community and on tour. Recent tours include Scotland/England 2024, Portugal/Spain 2022, Italy, 2019, Ireland 2017, and Israel 2015. UPCOMING: Performing Tour to Salzburg, Vienna, Prague Spring Break 2026
THE YOUTH SYMPHONY INCLUDES WINDS AND PERCUSSION If you play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, or concert percussion, and have at least 3 years experience, you are eligible to audition.
Auditions for the 2025-2026 season are ongoing. A date and time can be requested.
