The premiere performing ensemble of the Barrington Music Institute is the Barrington Youth Symphony Orchestra. This auditioned group features string, wind, and percussion students who are ready for the challenge of playing advanced symphony literature. This orchestra rehearses once a week and performs two formal concerts at Barrington High School each year. They also perform in the community and on tour. Recent tours include Portugal/Spain 2022, Italy, 2019, Ireland 2017, and Israel 2015. Scotland/England performing tour upcoming March 23 – 30 2024.
THE YOUTH SYMPHONY INCLUDES WINDS AND PERCUSSION If you play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, or concert percussion, and have at least 3 years experience, you are eligible to audition.
