The premiere performing ensemble of the Barrington Music Institute is the Barrington Youth Symphony Orchestra.  This auditioned group features string, wind, and percussion students who are ready for the challenge of playing advanced symphony literature.  This orchestra rehearses once a week and performs two formal concerts at Barrington High School each year.  They also perform in the community and on tour.  Recent tours include Italy, 2019, Ireland 2017, and Israel 2015.

THE YOUTH SYMPHONY INCLUDES WINDS AND PERCUSSION  If you play flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, or concert percussion, and have at least 3 years experience, you are eligible to audition.

Auditions for the 2020-2021 season are being conducted online with a Zoom link. Please use the register for an audition link below to sign up or call 1-847-382-9517 with questions.

2020-2021 will be the 12th Season of the Barrington Youth Symphony!  Rehearsals will be in person!

3.  Masks Required
4.  Socially distanced seating, one person per stand
5.  Less than 50 in room
6.  Rehearsal limited to 60 minutes
7.  While we encourage students to come and rehearse safely in person, students will also have the option to attend rehearsals via zoom.  Please note, however, that students who have been zooming in would be asked to attend some rehearsals in person leading to a performance.
